We are looking for a Buying Engineer for our new Shanghai office.
Key Responsibilities: Sourcing of Suitable suppliers within China for steel, plastics parts and components.
Description of the tasks
- Build and administer Request For Quotation (RFQ)
- Conduct quality audits & make factory visits
- Analyse supplier responses to RFQs and help develop global negotiation strategies.
- Applicant should have thorough knowledge of production techniques and component and material costs as there will be a high degree of product development work required.
- Str0ng negotiation skills required for choosing suppliers. Benchmarking prices within the industry.
- Participate in recommendations about which supplier(s) to select.
- Conduct Quality Control at supplier factory.
- Liaise with logistics partners.
Qualifications
- Academic background: University degree, preferably in engineering and/or business administration or other relevant discipline
- A recognized qualification in procurement would be considered an asset
- Experience: Some professional experience (1-2 years) in procurement or other related supply chain positions, preferably working for a western industrial organization
- Language skills: Chinese & English (must be fluent). Working proficiency in French is an asset
- PC skills: Excel, Powerpoint, Word
