Snuggle up and immerse yourself in the spirit of Christmas with one of the most moving works of holiday literature. A holiday event for all ages, the Shanghai Repertory Theater (SRT) ushers in the festive season with Charles Dickens’ beloved classic, “A Christmas Carol”. Few holiday events are as eagerly anticipated or as warmly received. Discover the true spirit of Christmas along with Scrooge, Tiny Tim, and a host of other wonderfully familiar characters, and share the joy of this special experience with a new generation. Adapted and directed by Thomas Caron, SRT’s “A Christmas Carol” features an international cast of performers. Opening on Wed. Dec. 2nd and running until Dec. 6th, SRT’s opening production will be performed at the Ke Center for Contemporary Arts located at 613-B Kai Xuan Road near Yan’an West Road.

    About “A Christmas Carol”

A Christmas Carol follows the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, who over the course of a long Christmas Eve is visited by four ghosts—Christmases Past, Present, and Future, as well as Scrooge's former business partner, Jacob Marley—who guide his transformation from coldhearted miser into open-armed philanthropist. One of literature's most enduring and often-quoted stories of hope, triumph, and communal spirit, A Christmas Carol has found its definitive expression at SRT. "Dickens told this particular ghost story in the belief that, if you could trigger a person's imagination, you could trigger their humanity. It is a remarkable story; at its core, it is a piece about magic and change."
