Civil defense officials announced that the test, in three phases, will begin at 11:20 a.m. by first sounding a preparation alarm. An initial siren will last 36 seconds, followed by a 24-second pause; that procedure will be repeated three times. The second phase, which is the main air strike siren, will follow a few minutes later, blaring for six seconds, followed by a 6-second pause, and repeating the same procedure 15 times. In the final phase, a siren will sound constantly for three minutes to indicate the end of an air raid. The siren test will finish at 11:43 a.m.

Air raid messages will be broadcast simultaneously across radio waves and TV screens in metro trains. Mobile phone operators will also send guidelines through text messages. At the same time, several schools and communities in the Yuexiu, Haizhu, Huadu and Conghua districts will conduct virtual exercises, including war mobilization, evacuation and emergency rescue.
