On peut maintenant utiliser l'application Google Translate sur téléphone sans VPN. Je viens de tester, ça a l'air de marcher.

il existe d'autres applications de traduction (Microsoft Translator, Baidu translate..) mais ma préférée restait quand même Google Translate. C'est bien que ça soit débloqué. Pour le coup il n'y avait pas vraiment de raison de la bloquer... comme de nombreux autres services de Google qui sont bloqués sans raison apparente?!

Good news for monolingual expats everywhere. The Google Translate app just got unblocked yesterday in China, meaning you won't have to buy a VPN on your phone to use the translation software anymore.....and it'll be easier to use Lien retiré. The app has been on China's android app store for several years already, but was previously relegated to the other side of the Great Firewall.
You'll have access to the phone's camera, which translates Chinese characters into English or other languages. To use, just hover it over the characters and the phone will translate them to your native tongue. It can be pretty inaccurate but is good enough to understand the general meaning.

While the embargo on Google products has yet to be a good lifted, this could be a good way to get the search engine's foot in the door. Google is allegedly in talks with officials in the Middle Kingdom. Though to really pave their way, we suggest Sergey Brin and Larry Page take a leaf from Mark Zuckeberg's playbook and go on Lien retiré
